»26-year-old Edwin Hall Arrested
Cops in Overland Park say Kelsey Smith purchased a scrapbook and some wrapping paper at a Target located at 97th Quivira Rd. on June 2, 2007. At around 7:09 p.m. she walked to her car, put her purse and the items on the passenger's seat and as she was getting into her car somebody came from behind and forced her in.
Kelsey was supposed to go home and meet her boyfriend to go to a graduation party, but that never happened.
Two hours later, they say somebody parked Kelsey's car, a silver, two-door 1987 Buick Regal, at the mall right outside Macy's. When cops searched the car they found the items Kelsey had purchased and her purse, but her cell phone and ATM card were missing.
Cops at the Overland Park P.D. have released surveillance video of Kelsey shopping at Target, and of a guy they say is only a "person of interest." This man was seen at the store about the same time Kelsey was shopping. Cops say they want to talk to this man because he may have witnessed what happened to Kelsey. However, they are not identifying this man as the person who abducted Kelsey or the person who parked her car at the Oak Park Mall two hours later.
On June 5th, cops released new information that could help shed light on who's responsible for Kelsey's abduction.
The Target store videotape shows that at 6:54 p.m., a mysterious pick up truck pulls into the parking lot and parks in the same aisle as Kelsey's car. The truck is described as a late 70s Chevy pick-up truck. It seemed that this was just a coincidence -- until investigators went back to the videotape.
Shortly after Kelsey's car was dumped at a nearby parking later that evening, that same pick up truck is seen once again. Cops want to know if that is truly a coincidence or if that truck is the key to cracking this case.
In yet another piece of video tape, cops believe they have captured the actual abduction in the Target parking lot. Cops are pouring over the tape to see if that is the case and if so, they are trying to isolate some clear images of Kelsey's abductor. America's Most Wanted is working with the Overland Park Police to enhance the videotape in hopes of bringing this abductor into focus.
